What we Do

With our attention to detail and dedication to delivering the highest quality work possible, you can rest assured knowing that your project is in the hands of an extremely talented and knowledgeable team of employees.  Our employees and subcontractors have been with our company for many years and lots of projects. All have spent a majority of their life in the construction business and know all the ups + downs and in’s + outs.

Meridian Design Construction specializes in whole house remodels + additions

These services include, but are not limited to: Building additions onto residential & commercial dwellings, real estate rehab and remodel, tenant improvement, custom woodworking + specialty trim, finishing attics, deck construction + repair, and custom furniture. We also are an EPA Certified RRP Lead Safe Contractor, which is a legal requirement for all general contractors working on any home built pre-1978. We also retain a large number of subcontractors to assist in other areas or work we would be happy to put you in touch with for any of your other needs.

Meridian uses a special web-based Construction Management Software to optimize communication between the residential builders, their customers, vendors, and subcontractors. Their award winning Residential Construction App is extremely easy to navigate, and the most widely used around the world, but as far as we know – Meridian is the only company in the Ventura/Santa Barbara area to implement this program.

Phase I

Initial Phone Call

Walk Through

Budget + Proposed Scope of Work

Phase One begins with getting to know you + your construction dreams. We begin with a phone call to educate on the construction systems + processes, provide a ballpark budget based on similar projects completed and listen to your ideal timeline + needs + what you expect upon completion. This initial phone call is mandatory to find out if Meridian is a good fit for your project. At the completion of this call, we will set up a walk through, during which we take necessary measurements, inspect site conditions, + work together to develop a detailed scope of work. From the walk through, we are able to create a customized, detailed budget that will give you a clear idea of our vision and your potential investment. Meridian charges $400 for a 30 minute on-site consult and line item budget. That $400 does NOT get applied to your project whether or not you move forward with Meridian for design and/or construction work. Meridian charges for our time as estimates + meetings typically take us 4 - 6 hours to complete. Taking this additional time upfront, we have found that our final construction budget typically comes in within 3% of our preliminary budgets.

Phase II

Design Vision + Development Materials Orders

Once the budget is approved, we enter into the design agreement and the fun begins! We will dive into your inspiration photos + learn about how you will use the space that will help us put together a cohesive design and develop a space that is perfectly suited for you. This step will leave us with a collaborative vision that will guide the rest of the project. There IS a design fee that fluctuates from project to project and can be discussed further once a budget is delivered.

This phase of the project is all about the details. We will use professional drawings to source all finish materials and you will begin to see your project come to life. During this time, we will visit showrooms or current construction projects to explore options and leave you with samples that give you a tangible idea of what your new space will look like upon completion.

In phase two, Meridian purchases the materials on order, track the shipments, receive + inspect each item so that everything is ready for install. All the behind-the-scenes tasks that happen when procuring materials prevent so many headaches for our clients.

Phase III

Construction + Installation

This is the most rewarding part of the entire process for everyone—CONSTRUCTION! It may feel like the previous phases take a good amount of time, but it is all in an effort to set us up for success and minimize our actual construction time. Seeing the vision turn into reality is truly magic. We hold weekly meetings throughout this phase so all parties involved are always on the same page.

Being the son of a plumber/craftsman, Justin was introduced to the construction world at a very young age.  He watched and learned along the way, taking notes on aspects he liked and disliked in the construction industry.   He then developed his own general contracting company compiled with all his years of knowledge and has been successfully fulfilling his dream of working for himself for the last two decades.

Justin is an avid reader and loves to spend time outdoors with his daughter Billie.

He is also passionate about helping the world and others.

BIOGRAPHY COMING SOON

I like beautiful things that are well made. I even believe aesthetics are equivalent to ethics. Something that is beautiful is ethical, and unethical things aren’t beautiful—from tax dodging to doing things in an underhand way.
